How to Go to Old Harry Rocks

Old Harry Rocks are two chalk sea stacks located at Handfast Point, on the Isle of Purbeck in Dorset, Southern England. They are part of the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site and are managed by the National Trust. This stunning rocks formation also known as one of the best coastal walks in the UK.

How to travel from Bournemouth to Old Harry Rocks?

Take More Bus route 50 towards Swanage, get off at Studland Village bus stop, then walk following the signage along the way. The bus journey from Bournemouth town center would approximately take around an hour, while the walks from Studland Village to the rocks would take around 30 minutes.

Chilling at the top of the rocks

My friend and I got off at Swanage bus station (the last stop) and had a short walk along the beach and town. We had brunch at Gee Whites which the location was overlooking the Swanage Bay. The mussels with garlic and white wine were delicious!

The scenery at the Old Harry Rocks was absolutely worth the walk. You may discover some forked paths along the way which could lead you to a nice view like this picture below :)

After around 30 minutes of walking, we finally reached the rocks. The weather was so nice, warm with a cool breeze. We stayed for a couple of hours, laying down on the grass admiring the unique scenery. I will definitely come back and on my next visit I want to take the walking trail from South Beach as suggested by National Trust.

TIPS

Once you get off the bus, check the bus schedule to plan your return journey as it might not run very often.
